In The Last Days of The City follows film director Khaled as he’s wrapping his film in Cairo, a city he thought he knew but which keeps revealing its many facets in front of his eyes. The ride that filmmaker Tamer El Said invites us to follow not only an introspective ride into the heart of Egypt, but also one that cuts deep within the Arab World. Join us in a Q&A with the award-winning director about his debut feature film, shot in Cairo, Berlin, Baghdad and Beirut.

FILM TALK: A SONIC ROAD TRIP

With Tramontane‘s director Vatche Boulghourjian, sound designer Rana Eid and composer Cynthia Zaven

Rabih is a young blind musician that has to travel throughout the country to retrieve his true identity. In this talk, we will address with filmmaker Vatche Boulghourjian the writing of the role for a blind person, but also the writing of the sonic score that accompanies the protagonist, with both his sound designer Rana Eid and his music composer Cynthia Zaven.

FILM TALK: TO PALESTINE AND BACK

Palestine in three distinct journeys: through a bus ride, a space ship, and on a car trip. Filmmakers Larissa Sansour, Rakan Mayasi and Roy Dib take us to the heart of Palestine, where the truths are exposed but the boundaries are reimagined. The artists will reflect in this talk about their journeys to Palestine today, virtually and in reality.

Our programme for Saturday evening brings together three documentary makers for an informal discussion around life behind the camera, and the future of documentary making. All are welcome to join the conversation, but we particularly invite other filmmakers to join the discussion at the end and share their own experiences!
