My Memory is Full of Ghosts + Workshop

ذاكرتي مليئة بالاشباح

Anas Zawahri | 2024 | 74′

In My Memory Is Full of Ghosts, director Anas Zawahri’s first feature length documentary crafts a visual elegy of Homs, Syria; a city suspended between the echoes of its past and the silence of its present. Through static frames and intimate testimonies, the film captures the haunting remnants of war: shattered buildings, deserted streets, and the indelible scars etched into the lives of its returning inhabitants. As memories resurface amidst the ruins, the documentary delves into the collective psyche of a community striving to reclaim normalcy from the shadows of destruction. It’s a reflection on the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring quest for identity amidst the remnants of conflict.

My Memory Is Full of Ghosts offers a contemplative journey through the layers of time and memory, inviting audiences to witness the interplay of history, present realities, and the aspirations that shape the future.

Post-screening Workshop: What Ghosts Travel With Us?

After the screening, join Hekayyatna for a participatory workshop and discussion unpacking the film’s themes of grief, memory and resistance. Across generations and geographies, some stories refuse to leave us; this event will reflect on the invisible inheritances we carry and what it means to live with the echoes of the past.

Screening as part of SAFAR’s GHOSTS strand.
